The steel pipe tower structure has relative technical and economic advantages and is suitable for transmission towers that bear heavy loads.
(1) Load characteristics
The steel pipe tower component bears little wind pressure, has high bending rigidity, a simple structure, clear force transmission, and can give full play to the load-bearing performance of the material. On the one hand, it can reduce the weight of the tower and reduce the foundation force; on the other hand, it is beneficial to enhance the ability to resist natural disasters under extreme conditions. Under the condition of satisfying the calculation requirements of strength and stability, the wind load of the tower body can be significantly reduced by adopting a steel pipe tower with a relatively small wind pressure shape coefficient.
(2) Section features
The cross-section of steel pipe tower members is symmetrical to the center, and the cross-sectional properties are isotropic. The material is evenly distributed along the perimeter, and the section has high bending stiffness. For the tension member of the transmission tower, when the cross-sectional area of the steel pipe and the angle steel are equal, the steel pipe tower member does not show its advantages. For the bending member of the transmission tower, the steel pipe with a small cross-sectional area and a large radius of gyration can be used to fully and uniformly exert the mechanical properties of the material and meet the requirements of structural rigidity and stability. Especially for large load towers with large structural geometric dimensions and long components, the advantages of good stability of steel pipe tower components are obvious.
(3) Structural connection
In terms of structural connection, the main material of the steel pipe tower is connected by the flange or intersecting connection, the inclined material and the main material are connected by inserting plate or intersecting connection, and the main material of the angle steel tower is connected by inner and outer covers, and other components are mainly connected by connecting plates and bolts. The connection structure between the flange of the steel pipe tower and the insert plate is relatively simple, which increases the welding workload, but reduces the adverse effect of the eccentricity of the angle steel member on the structural bearing capacity, enhances the rigidity and compactness of the connection node, and helps to improve the overall structure of the structure.
